About Danceforce School of Dancing
Danceforce School of Dancing was established in 1987 and the current principal, Carol Winter, has been running the school since 1997. It is a thriving and successful school based in Kingston upon Thames, Surrey with over 300 pupils ranging from 18 months to adult.
We are dedicated to providing quality education and specialist training in a diverse range of dance styles: Ballet, Modern, Tap, Jazz, Contemporary, Acro and Musical Theatre.
Professional Dance Teachers
While dance is fun, it is also physically demanding and parents should take great care to send their child to professional, qualified teachers. All our teachers are registered with the RAD, ISTD or Lamda and have the training and qualifications necessary to teach to all ages in accordance with government regulated and accredited boards. All our staff are DBS checked.
The teachers adhere to a carefully structured syllabus, which is both fun and safe.
Exams
Regular exam sessions are held in RAD Ballet, ISTD Tap and Modern and Lamda Drama. We are proud of our excellent exam results. These qualifications are accredited by the QCA and are recognized globally. Candidates who have achieved a Pass or higher in a Level 3 qualification (Grades 6, 7, 8, Intermediate and Advanced Foundation) can use their examination result towards their points tariff when applying to University or a Higher Education institution in the UK.
Auditions
Talented and gifted students are encouraged to audition for the Associate Programme of the Royal Ballet School. Dance Students also audition for Youth Ballet companies and vocational schools. Drama students audition for films and professional productions.
Dance Festivals
We enter talented students for local dance festivals which are judged by an adjudicator.
Holiday Workshops
Pupils have the opportunity to participate in our themed musical theatre workshops. Past themes include Mary Poppins, Cats and Lion King. Activities include dancing, drama and singing with an informal show at the end of the week where pupils show off their new skills.
Shows
Every few years we run our ever popular show in which every pupil can participate. A theatre is hired with professional lighting, sound, makeup and costumes although this takes a lot of hard work and commitment from pupils and parents, the whole experience proves to be highly rewarding.
